    I have a Master's degree in Sociology and minor in biology - i was on a career path to work for the National Park Service but there were budget cuts and furloughs the summer I graduated so i began working in social services - persons with disabilities, community and residential supports and services. Have worked in this field since then - creating inclusion in programming and community/recreational access.

    Executive Director - non profit disability services organization

    Exec Director of Center for Independent Living; receive Federal funding to provide advocacy, education and support to persons with disabilities including youth and seniors; to live, work and be engaged in their communities. Supervise 20 staff, four locations spanning 13 counties in NE Kansas. By Federal guidelines, the majority of our staff are persons with disabilities; we excel in creating accessible, inclusive work environments and advocate for community access and inclusion. Being a non profit, we are all hands-on, sharing in cleaning duties, general maintenance, landscaping and more. I create our newsletter and manage the agency website. I also have experience working in my parents’ small business on weekends – helping with inventory, sales, customer service and general help as needed. I also volunteer for community events and festivals which can bring 20,000 people to our small Kansas community (Wamego, home of the OZ Museum) including minor celebrities. I volunteer as bartender for our small community theater, usher, take tickets, etc.

Audrey - Experience with social media marketing, newsletters, FB/IG posts, basic webpage management. Excellent customer service skills, I generally volunteer for the information booth at our numerous community festivals as I am comfortable interacting with the public and years of experience calming tired and upset festival vendors. Managed community swimming pools during my high school and college summers.
Walter - Was an independent business owner for 35 years. Owned and operated a General Contracting building business focusing on small commercial and upscale residential projects. In addition we did design and build for most of our projects. Have vast knowledge of construction and maintenance. Skills include small and large construction equipment operation such as bulldozer, skid loader, backhoe etc. Changed careers starting in 2007 and became certified and licensed in the field of mental health therapy and Addiction Counseling. Worked with a diverse group of people in this field. For the last 9 years I have managed a Behavioral Health program on a Native American Reservation in Kansas. I understand different cultures and have learned excellent communication skills including conflict resolution. I am skilled in deescalating high intensity situations. I currently am licensed with the State of Kansas to work independently as a mental health and addiction counselor.
