Responsibilities
Outdoor/Indoor duties include:

Outside/Maintenance
- Light landscaping (mowing, weed whacking, planting, watering) when needed, and supervising groundskeeping staff – FT, PT and Seasonal.
- Addressing water/sewer line/ minor electric issues, involving on-site maintenance staff or outside contractors, as needed.
- Greeting guests while maneuvering around the park, escorting campers to their site, and site deliveries.
- Maintenance of bathrooms & laundry facilities
- Propane training & certification provided
- Tractor, leaf blowers, zero turn mower, push mowers, weed whackers, mini-excavator and other equipment operation is a plus, but not required.
- Site maintenance & clean up after guest departures
Inside/Office
- Supervision of Cleaning (office, bathrooms, laundry room)
- Front desk/phones – K2 Reservation/CRM experience a PLUS
- Make reservations, answer questions, check people in and out
- Retail sales and inventory management, organizing and stocking store
- Cash handling, daily procedures and POS credit card terminal
- Familiarity with K2 Reservation/CRM, Google Drive, Square
Compensation/Benefits
- 35 – 44 hours/week per person at your negotiated rate of pay is the hourly commitment we are seeking. Both people must work the minimum hours to cover the complimentary site. If only one person is planning to work at the camp, then ½ the site rent valuation will be deducted from pay and ½ the electrical allowance will be given. Minimum hours worked are 35 per week. We are a seasonal campground, so all hands-on deck are required to work on busy weekends and special event weekends which may occasionally send you over 40 hours. We pay bi-monthly; the first and the 15th. Full time workers can work up to 88 hours a 15-16 day pay period without overtime pay in Iowa.
- Regular site fee is $745. You are receiving a complimentary Kamp Host site. (this is equivalent to an additional $6/hour perk per person if each person works 140 hours per month)
- Water is covered for two campers (for one camp site). Additional family members over the age of eight (8) will be charged $30/month each.
- Additional, short term overnight guests over the age of eight (8) are charged a $5 guest fee.
- We cover up to $100/month toward site electricity which includes up to $100 electrical credit for your usage in which any un-used portion will roll over to the next month(s) to help cover hot months. Any unused portion of the electrical credits at time of departure will be added to next season upon your return but is not refundable to cash.
- 20% off in store purchases. 20%off event center rentals for private parties.
- Pay will range from $16 – $20/hour, depending on qualifications.
- Review after 60 days with the potential for an hourly pay increase.
- Health insurance is available to qualifying employees.
This is all open to negotiation based on your skills, qualifications, experience and references.

Job Description

We are looking for an Experienced Couple or Single Interested in SUMMER 2026 Workamping in Central Iowa!

START Between April 1 and May 15, 2026

FINISH Between Sept 30 and Nov 15, 2026

We are seeking a Kamp Kouple to join our already amazing indoor/outdoor summer crew here at the Newton/Des Moines East KOA Journey in Iowa. A 3-5 year commitment is preferred, but not required.

Newton/Des Moines East KOA Journey is nestled in the serene fields of Central Iowa along Interstate 80 between the Des Moines and Iowa City metros. Whether relaxing or seeking fun, this area of the country offers a variety of activities all year long. Popular peak season attractions include Iowa Speedway NASCAR races, Pella Tulip Time Festival and the Iowa State Fair, among many others, each one draws thousands of visitors.

Our park offers 110 RV sites, tenting, multiple cabins and vintage glamping campers, a retail store and office, lounge, a new pool, catch and release fishing pond, 9-hole disc golf course, playground with Gaga Pit, nature trails and more. The owners also operate a beautiful wedding and event venue adjacent to the property which utilizes our lodging options and amenities.

HOURS for INDOOR/OUTDOOR fluctuate depending on desired hours per week but typically are 5.5 days a week including Fridays and Saturdays with one full weekend a month off so you can explore Iowa. Ideally you will work the same shift as your partner, if applicable.

We look for:

K2 Reservation/CRM experience preferred. Other reservation/campground system experience is acceptable.

We have a lot of fun here AND park maintenance can also be hard work at times, so you DO need to be capable of lifting, carrying (as heavy as 60 lbs. m/l), bending and the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.

We are willing to consider solo work campers. Solo travelers are encouraged to apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Our guests are what make our park special as well as our desire to go above & beyond. If you will not take the time to talk to the arrivals and park them properly, we are not the park for you.
