  • Responsibilities 

    Monroe Co./Toledo North KOA is seeking full-time (36+ hours per week) work campers that are looking for a fast paced work environment. During peak season (May thru October) this is a high traffic campground, especially on the weekends.

    Located about 45 minutes from Detroit, 30 minutes from Ann Arbor, and 20 minutes from Toledo we are smack dab in the middle of all the festivals, activities, stores, and restaurants the area has to offer but far enough away that you can enjoy nature and not the noises of the city.

    This is a family focused campground with many guests who have been coming here for over 30 years. We put emphasis on activities and themed weekends which draws in a large crowd, especially on weekends. We are finishing our brand new epicenter of fun (Big Kahuna’s Outpost) that will include 2 brand new pools and a splash pad as well as a store, snack shop, bike/boat rentals & more, (Grand opening Memorial Day 2026) which we are expecting will drive reservations through the roof resulting in a very busy summer.

  • Compensation/Benefits 

    This is a seasonal full time position averaging 36-40 hours/week throughout the season.

    • Pay: $13.73 an hour for all hours worked with a paid 30 min break
    • Season: Begins – April 17, 2026 // Ends – November 2026 (We take Workampers starting anytime in that timeframe. But, ask that you stay through Mid-November, as our Halloween Weekends are some of our busiest!)
    • Back-In Full Hook Up RV Site is available at a rate of $50 per pay period – paid bi-weekly, inclusive of water, electric, sewer, cable. **Sites are only available to workampers with an RV for example: fifth wheel, travel trailer, motor home. We do not have cabins available for employee housing.

Job Description

The campground Maintenance/Grounds Tech is the indomitable fix-it frontiersman who battles busted benches, tames leaky latrines, and resurrects rusty grills, ensuring every creaky cabin and wonky walkway whispers “welcome back” to wide-eyed wanderers!

The Maintenance/Grounds Tech (MT) is responsible for the general maintenance, operation and upkeep of the campground buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds. They will commonly work with a team to ensure all aspects of the campground are clean, safe, and well-maintained and in good working order.

The MT will use technical skills to troubleshoot and repair machinery, electrical systems, and other equipment. They also use technical skills to read and interpret technical manuals, and other documents related to their work. The MT will perform general carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing work and install new fixtures, equipment, and appliances as needed. They are also responsible for conducting the preventative maintenance program, handling guest requests and other work orders as assigned in a safe and efficient manner. MTs will also be required to cut and weed eat grass throughout the campground and need to be familiar with the tools required to complete those tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and maintenance/repairs to campground buildings, facilities, equipment, vehicles, and grounds as directed by the maintenance manager.
  • Comply with all KOA, federal, state, and local safety programs by adhering to established guidelines in the operation and storage of various equipment, tools and chemicals.
  • Maintain compliance with preventative maintenance program through regular inspection of facilities, buildings, cabins, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Inspecting equipment to ensure proper functioning of heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems, etc.
  • Troubleshooting problems with equipment to determine the cause of failure and determine the best solution for repair or replacement.
  • Installing new fixtures, equipment, and appliances as needed. (ex. Spigots, electrical outlets)
  • Safe operation of swimming pool and aquatic water features by maintaining proper pool chemistry while safely handling all pool chemicals.
  • Approach all encounters with guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Prioritize tasks based upon importance and urgency with conscious planning and thoughtful decision making.
  • Comfortable in high-pressure and fast paced situations while maintaining composure and objectivity.
  • Maintain property, clean leaves/debris. Clean campsites before arrival and after departures.
  • Foster a work environment that maximizes employee involvement, morale and is dedicated to delivering KOAs Culture, Mission, Values and Goals.
