Executive Director - non profit disability services organization
Exec Director of Center for Independent Living; receive Federal funding to provide advocacy, education and support to persons with disabilities including youth and seniors; to live, work and be engaged in their communities. Supervise 20 staff, four locations spanning 13 counties in NE Kansas. By Federal guidelines, the majority of our staff are persons with disabilities; we excel in creating accessible, inclusive work environments and advocate for community access and inclusion. Being a non profit, we are all hands-on, sharing in cleaning duties, general maintenance, landscaping and more. I create our newsletter and manage the agency website. I also have experience working in my parents’ small business on weekends – helping with inventory, sales, customer service and general help as needed. I also volunteer for community events and festivals which can bring 20,000 people to our small Kansas community (Wamego, home of the OZ Museum) including minor celebrities. I volunteer as bartender for our small community theater, usher, take tickets, etc.
