Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the campground grounds, facilities, equipment and utility systems to provide guests with a safe, clean, comfortable and enjoyable camping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the campground.
- Maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water, sewer and other campground systems.
- Repair and maintain cabins, restrooms, laundry facilities, buildings and campsites.
- Perform basic carpentry, painting, landscaping and general handyman work.
- Inspect and maintain playgrounds, recreational areas, roads and common areas.
- Operate and maintain lawn mowers, trimmers, tractors and other maintenance equipiment.
- Respond to guest maintenance requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Identify safety hazards and make necessary repairs or report issues to management.
- Maintain tools, equipment and maintenance supplies.
- Assist with seasonal campground opening, closing and winterization.
- Follow KOA safety procedures and applicable local regulations.
- Keep work areas clean, safe and organized.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in maintenance, construction, facilities, campground, hotel or a related field is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical systems.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and customer- service skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb, kneel and perform physical labor as needed.
This is a hands- on, outdoor position. The Maintenance Technician may work around campsites, cabins, bathhouses, utility systems, pools, recreational facilities, roads and campground equipment.
The position may require working weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, or being available for emergency maintenance needs depending on campground operations.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying equipment and materials, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching and working in outdoor conditions.
General Expectations
The Maintenance Technician is expected to represent the campground professionally, provide courteous assistance to guests, maintain a safe work environment and complete assigned maintenance tasks efficiently and reliably.
