Position Summary
Circle Pines KOA Resort is looking for a friendly, dependable, and safety-minded individual to help operate our go-kart track and assist with the upkeep and repair of our go-karts.
This is a full-time position, with work hours divided between the go-kart track and our maintenance/landscaping team based on operational needs. Applicants interested in arriving before the track opens may have the opportunity to begin earlier in a full-time maintenance and landscaping role.
The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, provides great guest service, and has a basic working knowledge of small engines. Advanced mechanic experience is not required, but the employee must be comfortable assisting with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and common repairs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, patient, and professional service to guests of all ages.
- Explain track rules, rider requirements, safety procedures, and operating instructions.
- Confirm that required waivers and rider requirements are completed.
- Help guests safely enter and exit go-karts and secure safety restraints.
- Monitor the track and respond quickly to stalled karts, unsafe driving, accidents, or other concerns.
- Start, stop, move, and reposition go-karts throughout the day.
- Assist with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Help diagnose common small-engine and go-kart operating issues.
- Inspect tires, brakes, steering components, fluid levels, fuel systems, belts, cables, and other safety-related components.
- Report mechanical or safety concerns and remove unsafe equipment from service when appropriate.
- Keep the track, loading area, maintenance area, and surrounding guest spaces clean and organized.
- Assist the maintenance and landscaping team with tasks such as property cleanup, mowing, weed removal, pine-needle cleanup, painting, basic repairs, and other general outdoor work.
- Follow all operating, maintenance, and emergency procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Perform other reasonable job-related duties based on campground needs.
Qualifications
- Basic experience or practical knowledge involving small engines, go-karts, lawn equipment, ATVs, or similar equipment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to safely and correctly use common hand tools.
- Strong guest-service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during busy periods or challenging situations.
- Dependable transportation and consistent attendance.
- Availability to work the required Thursday-through-Monday schedule throughout the season.
- Willingness to work holidays and late evenings.
- Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and workplace policies.
- Must meet any minimum age or licensing requirements applicable to assigned duties.
Physical and Work Requirements
The following are essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals with disabilities:
- Remain on your feet and move around the track or campground for most of the workday.
- Frequently bend, reach, crouch, twist, and climb in and out of go-karts.
- Repeatedly push, pull, move, or reposition go-karts and equipment weighing approximately 50–75 pounds.
- Safely use hand tools and perform basic mechanical, maintenance, and landscaping tasks.
- Work outdoors in changing conditions, including sun, wind, rain, and varying temperatures.
- Work around engine noise, fuel, exhaust, moving equipment, and uneven outdoor surfaces.
- Maintain the awareness and reaction time necessary to monitor an active go-kart track safely.
