“We are the Nicholses and have been working for KOA the last four years. I am a retired police officer and my wife is a retired pediatric RN. And if this is your first experience working at a KOA campground you are in for a wonderful and interesting experience. If you are a seasoned veteran of the KOA family – welcome to you as well.
Having four wonderful kids graduated from college and now on their own, we found ourselves like many couples “our age” wondering where the road will lead in retirement.
With about thirty years enjoying camping throughout the United States, working for KOA while enjoying the great outdoors was a natural choice without any hesitation or reluctance.
Employed primarily on the east coast (with a recent wonderful summer working in Utah) we have worked a variety of KOA camp worker jobs including activities, reservations, housekeeping, escorting and security.
But we have also confronted the many challenges living and working in a 36-foot recreational vehicle on a fulltime basis, the obstacles that must be overcome and the shortcomings they present. Moving down from a 2500 square foot home and into our RV presented one thought-provoking question – what are we going to do with all the “stuff”?
Storage was the answer and once the door was closed we hit the open round for fun, travel and adventure.
As we enter another wonderful winter season working in sunny Florida (and many trips to Disneyworld), we look forward to meeting and greeting not only guests but those KOA camp workers we know or about to call our friends and family.
Nationwide, the KOA family of corporate and franchised own campgrounds makes it a wonderful choice for camp working retirement, travel and meeting need friends. It is truly a wonderful experience. Enjoy the highway and always remember, it’s not the destination but the journey. Dreams do come true.”
